SpyBot can also increase security by "Immunizing" your computer against known threats.
Click the immunization tab at left and it will tell you how many are now protected and suggest more if it has more. If it says you can gain more protection but you must immunize, just click the "+" mark pointed out. (Newer version looks slightly different)
At the bottom of this box you can also see that I've checked to "Enable permanent blocking of bad addresses..." though I have selected "Ask for blocking confirmation" you may want to choose "Block all addresses silently" instead. It will bother you less that way. Try both and decide for yourself.
